Clinic Owner, Doctor of Chiropractic

Dr. Shannon Paul

Dr. Paul is a 1997 graduate of Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. She has been in the Whistler-Pemberton area for 16 years and loves the family chiropractic practice she has developed.  She has been the owner of Pemberton Valley Wellness since 2008, and feels blessed to live in Pemberton.  When she isn’t at the office, you may catch Dr. Paul out with her husband and daughter having fun, running, skiing Blackcomb, hitting the mountain bike trails or maybe even waterskiing on Gates Lake!

Dr. Paul takes a particular interest in pediatrics and pregnancy. Educating the community about the importance of chiropractic for infants and children is one of Dr. Paul’s many goals. Ensuring that children have a healthy, mobile spine is essential for proper growth and development; it is as important as seeing the dentist and the eye doctor. Problems can be detected and corrected before they become a serious problem.

Chiropractic is safe and effective for kids of all ages!

Registered Massage Therapist
R.m.t., c.p.m.t.

Cathy Benns

Cathy Benns first began her connection to massage early in life. Training as a competitive gymnast, she learned the many ways that the body can be stretched, strengthened and challenged. Massage came naturally to Cathy, as it was part of her daily competitive training regime. Giving and receiving massage helped to inspire her to further her understanding of the human body.

Cathy comes with a wealth of experience and knowledge, and her educational credits alone boast her enthusiasm in healthcare and wellness.  Cathy studied Kinesiology at S.F.U., where she also completed her Health and Fitness Certificate, Aerobics Instructor Certificate and Personal Trainer Certificate before she continued on to the Okanagan Valley College of Massage Therapy to study massage therapy. She has since furthered her studies in myofascial, cranial and viseral release to help treat the many sports injuries that presented in the office, and continues to seek further education in pediatric, prenatal, postnatal and family care.

Cathy loves to be able to walk to work and is proud to be a part of the Pemberton Valley Wellness Team. She enjoys the many activities that the valley offers, and continues to teach gymnastics. Cathy is happy to be raising her family in such a wonderfully supportive and connected community!

Jenny Higgins

Jenny is excited to make the move back to her childhood home town! After spending years around the globe, it is time to move back to the coast.

Studying originally at the Okanagan Valley Collage of Massage Therapy she has been a Massage Therapist since 2013, and is passionate about her career choice and expanding her knowledge in the health field. She finds it fascinating to determine the underlying conditions of a client, and help them get back to doing the things they love!

Since graduating, Jenny has expanded her education in Visceral Manipulation, Rehabilitation of the pelvis, Advanced Clinical Reasoning & Practical Integration, and Manual lymphatic drainage.

She facilitates and encourages the recovery of her client’s health with various massage modalities. Helping them find optimal balance and stability while empowering them with knowledge so they can reach their own goals with confidence and ease. Her style of massage is dependant on the client and injury at hand, going deep into musculature when needed, always with a flow that allows the body to relax. ]Her clients appreciate her gentle, contagiously positive attitude, her ability to listen to their needs and provide safe, effective treatment and home care.

Working under, and learning from Sports Therapists, Chiropractors, Acupuncturists, Chinese Medicinal Doctor’s, Physiotherapists, and Naturopathic Doctors, has significantly added to Jenny’s overall knowledge, skill set and passion for the human body, and human journey.

Jenny’s athletic background helps her understand both the inconvenience and importance of rehabilitation and likes to view therapy as an ongoing process to facilitate long-term health and living.

She can’t wait to meet you at Pemberton Valley Wellness!

She began her health career as a registered nurse, working in acute and critical care, IV therapy, PICC teams, immunization programs, and education, in various hospitals in the Vancouver Coastal and Interior Health Authorities. She served as a clinical instructor with the University of British Columbia School of Nursing for 9 years. After completing her ND, Dr. Cham pursued post-graduate training in prolotherapy and PRP, pharmaceutical prescribing, neural therapy, and intravenous nutritional therapy. She is the only ND certified as a member of the Canadian Vascular Access Association, and is experienced in ultrasound-guided injection.

She maintains her commitment to the growth of women's hockey as a member of the UBC Thunderbirds Women's Hockey Alumni Executive. As a result of a hockey injury to her rotator cuff, Dr. Cham was treated with PRP while doing specialized training with the American Association of Orthopedic Medicine.
